A Ship Drawing

I'm not sure that any of you know this, but, ships were the first thing that I could draw very well. I loved ships, well, to see paintings of them: their appearance is the mainly only thing I like about them. I like clipper ships and frigates. Probably others too, but those are two of the few who's name I know. But my drawings always came out sort of a clipper-style.

Much time has passed since I stopped drawing ships on a regular basis, but every so often, I'll try it again. Yesterday was one of those time. I saw something with ships in it and the sea-longing returned.

I really would have preferred a frigate-style ship, but I didn't think about it that much so it came out my usual clipper-style.

I'll work on a frigate and see if I can't do it one of these days. But, for now, enjoy my typical clipper ship.

Fair voyages!

Charming!

What got you started drawing ships? Any painting in particular?

I love how the ship looks as if it is flowing into you in your woodland garb. Very cool effect. But I have always loved the sea and its un-pent power -- sometimes gentle, soothing....sometimes raging just below the surface threatening to consume. Ah, few things do remember with fondness more than the sea.

Thank-you for the complement M!

Well, ~A.K~, I don't exactly remember, but I am pretty sure that is was (Not a painting) a little tiny box, for cuff-links or something. The sides were gold-colored, but the top was wooden, and there was a little mettle circle in the middle of the lid with a beautiful little ship on it. I drew in in a journal on March 31, 2007. I called it The Arabella. It really didn't look much like the ship on the box, but I was proud of it. :)
