The Little Birds

Captive's Return, by Henry Ryland

In the Winter, my mother puts out seeds for the little birds and they come by the dozens to eat them. Titmice come the most often and they are dear little things. And the Chickadees, they are my favorite. Goldfinches come, too. Sometimes only one or two, sometimes over twenty. They are so lovely, and when there are so many all hopping about it is the most wonderful thing to see.

Maiden Song, by Emma Florence Harrison

The little birds are so peaceful, and even when they chase each other off there is something peaceful about it.

They are so small and lovable. Mesmerizing, really, the way they hop around. I can watch them for the longest time.

We have a big glass window, and out that window it where they come to eat the seeds. If we are careful and quiet, we can get very very close to them. And seeing to detail of there soft feathers makes you want to hold them.

Have a wonderful day.

I love titmice! Their dark little eyes are just so fascinating! I think the only birds around here in the winter are crows; I haven't seen anything else in a long time.

Maybe there will be more in the spring and summer!

And yes! Their black eyes are fascinating! And their little gray crests! :)
