Kilchurn Castle

Kilchurn Castle, Scotland

Sometimes I wish so very, very badly that I could see a castle. A real, true, castle. I very much hope that someday I will get to. And when I do, I will be so happy and so excited. I will have my camera and I would take pictures of it. And I would walk along beside it and put my hand on it's ancient stones. And just look at it in utter awe.

I visited the old Spanish fort in St. Augustine, Florida, and the outside of the castle on the top of Montjuic in Barcelona (it was too late in the day to go inside). Do those count?

Ah... the one in Spain does. Not Florida, though. If it is in Florida, it is a. not a real castle, and b. not nearly old enough to be cool. :) (Cool to me, that is.)

The one in St. Augustine (Castillo de San Marcos) is pre-U.S., dating from when Spain ruled that part of the continent. (St. Augustine is the oldest city in America.) Its construction started in 1672. You should look it up; you might be a little more impressed than you expect. :)

Maybe, but quite honestly, for me, I like castles that are around from 1200, and 1400, and older. 1672 is still new, in my book. :P I look it up though. :)
